Crowning of Our Lady 2023

Crowning of Our Lady 2023

To mark the start of May, the Month of Mary, Rydes Hill practiced it’s most revered and cherished of traditions; the Crowning of Our Lady. This devotional ceremony serves as a beautiful homage to the Virgin Mary, reminding all present of her unwavering devotion to God and her embodiment of obedience, humility, and love.

On Tuesday 2nd May, the entire school community gathered on 'Our Lady's lawn' to partake in this deeply meaningful event. A beautiful floral crown was gently placed upon the statue of the Virgin Mary, signifying her position as the Queen of heaven and earth. The crowing ceremony was accompanied by prayers and hymns and many of our pupils offered the Virgin Mary flowers and plants they had personally brought from home. Each floral tribute symbolised their individual acts of love and gratitude. These plants and flowers will be thoughtfully replanted throughout the school grounds in the upcoming days.

Thank you to all pupils, staff and parents who attended. It is through the collective effort of the entire community that this wonderful tradition continues to thrive and inspire generations to come.
