About the School
Rydes Hill is a non-selective Independent Catholic School which welcomes all denominations and teaches boys from 3-7 years and girls from 3-11 years. The School has superb facilities and is located in an idyllic setting in the suburbs of Guildford. The location offers the perfect environment for young children as the School is housed in an architecturally fine Georgian building and set in substantial landscaped gardens.
The School was founded in 1945 by the Daughters of Mary and Joseph. In 1989 the ownership was transferred to a Charitable Trust, which was established by parents at the time specifically for the purpose of continuing the excellent work of the Foundation Order.
The School is noted for its happy family atmosphere and we encourage and value our partnership with parents. There is a thriving Friends’ Association which organises a number of social and fundraising events throughout the year, fostering a really strong sense of community with the school.
Our record in placing boys and girls in the top Senior Schools in the country is well-established. We help parents choose which school is the most appropriate for their sons and daughters at age 7 for the boys and age 11 for the girls, based on our secure knowledge of each pupil's strengths and interests. We take great care in preparing pupils for entrance examinations and many are offered scholarships. Our pupils normally achieve their first choice of Senior School.
The School is a Charitable Trust with a Board of Governors supporting the Head. The Headmistress is a member of the Incorporated Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS).
