The Friends of Rydes Hill Preparatory School
Rydes Hill is a school with a great sense of community, like one large and loving family.
The objective of the ‘Friends’ is to sustain and nurture this by organising social events in support of the school, strengthen relationships between parents and teachers and make new friends in the process.
The ‘Friends’ organise many fundraising and social events and the proceeds are used to provide added extras for the pupils. Each year group has two parent-reps on the Committee. Popular annual events include a quiz night, Christmas Fayre and a Family Fun Day.
Over the past few years we have created a millennium garden, restored the school’s landmark - the clock tower (nicknamed 'Little Ben' by the children!), provided interactive whiteboards, paid for theatre companies and a mobile farm to visit the school and purchased resources for outdoor play.
A recent project has been the purchase of a minibus for the school. We have also raised funds for the renovation of our beautiful Victorian conservatory, which is almost complete. We are now raising money towards the furnishings in our new high-tech ICT room.
